Classrooms and school grounds are gradually taking shape through clean-up drives, repainting, minor repairs, and other preparation activities made possible by the shared efforts of the community. Each contribution, no matter how simple, helps create a more orderly, welcoming, and conducive space for learning.

The Schools Division of Calapan City expresses its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who continues to extend their time, effort, and resources in support of Brigada Eskwela. Through your continued cooperation and generosity, our schools become more prepared and our learners become more excited for the school year.

A new chapter unfolded as the Vicente and Astronica Gozar Samala National High School in Barangay Baruyan, Calapan City served as the host and beneficiary of a remarkable outpouring of generosity and demonstration of community spirit. The Division Brigada Eskwela 2026 Kickoff Activity became a vivid portrait of bayanihan, revealing how communities empower schools to become living spaces of hope.

The campus shone a little brighter before the work even began, lit by the support of partners, volunteers, and organizations answering the call for community support. School bags, notebooks, learning materials, and other essential resources were not simply laid down as donations but as solemn promises that every learner deserves a brighter tomorrow. Each act of kindness became a brushstroke painting the vision of a school ready to rise.

From the steadfast cooperation of the Sangguniang Barangay of Baruyan to the indispensable contributions of local partners and stakeholders, every gesture echoed the timeless truth that when hands join together in bayanihan, communities rise.

The Alternative Learning System (ALS) of the Schools Division of Calapan City joined the nationwide conduct of Brigada Eskwela (BE) 2026, marking its active participation in the Division BE kickoff activity held on June 1, 2026, in Brgy. Baruyan, Calapan City.

The engagement of ALS teachers, learners, and volunteers in BE highlighted that the spirit of bayanihan is not confined to formal schools alone but also thrives within Community Learning Centers (CLCs).

During the BE opening program, potential ALS learners displayed and sold handcrafted items such as floral creations and keychains, as well as locally sourced goods such as fresh seafood, vegetables, and native delicacies. Proceeds from selected items will help support the provision of ALS learning materials.

Following the opening program, ALS teachers, learners, and volunteers worked together in cleaning, repairing, and organizing the Baruyan CLC. The undertaking was further strengthened through the support of generous stakeholders who provided painting supplies, cleaning materials, snacks, and other resources. The activity was led by Dr. Dennis A. Bermoy, Education Program Supervisor in ALS and GMRC/Values Education.

In addition, ALS teams scheduled clean-up and improvement activities in other CLCs throughout the week. These activities form part of the broader Brigada Eskwela initiative which underscores the shared responsibility of preparing safe and conducive learning environments for learners.

The activity also served as a platform to raise public awareness of the ALS program and encourage community members and potential learners to be informed about the accessible and inclusive learning opportunities offered by DepEd Calapan City.

𝐵𝑎𝑦𝑎𝑛𝑖ℎ𝑎𝑛 𝑏𝑒𝑔𝑖𝑛𝑠 ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒.

The spirit of bayanihan came alive as the Schools Division of Calapan City formally launched 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒂𝒅𝒂 𝑬𝒔𝒌𝒘𝒆𝒍𝒂 (𝑩𝑬) 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 on June 1, 2026, bringing together educators, parents, volunteers, government officials, and community partners in a collective effort to prepare schools for the opening of School Year 2026–2027. This year’s BE kickoff highlighted the shared commitment of communities in supporting schools and learners through volunteerism, partnership, and service.

𝑽𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑨𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒂 𝑮𝒐𝒛𝒂𝒓 𝑺𝒂𝒎𝒂𝒍𝒂 𝑵𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒊𝒈𝒉 𝑺𝒄𝒉𝒐𝒐𝒍, the Division’s newly established secondary school in Brgy. Baruyan, Calapan City, served as the focal point of the BE kickoff activity, symbolizing resilience, hope, and the collective dream of providing accessible education for learners. The program conducted displayed the value of strong partnership among sectors supporting basic education in Calapan City.

One of the major moments of the BE kickoff was the ceremonial acceptance of donations and pledges from stakeholders, private partners, civic organizations, and local supporters who committed resources and assistance for school improvement initiatives and learner needs. Boxes of supplies, educational materials, school furniture & equipment, and pledged commitments reflected a shared understanding that education thrives when communities work together. Representatives from various sectors expressed their continued support for programs that uplift both the school and the learners.

Another significant highlight of the event was the groundbreaking ceremony attended by the city government officials led by Vice Mayor Bim Ignacio, together with City Councilors Joe Umali and Atty. Belle Tanyag-Panaligan, along with SK President Deo Lopez, with the SDO Calapan City Officials, marking the beginning of future infrastructure developments within the school. The ceremony symbolized a long-term investment in the dreams, safety, and future of every learner who will soon occupy the campus.

Simultaneous BE activities also commenced today across all public elementary and secondary schools in Calapan City and will continue until June 5, 2026. Teachers, parents, learners, alumni, volunteers, and community members joined clean-up drives, repair works, gardening activities, and school maintenance efforts in preparation for this school year.
